The admission process will involve a proctored written exam (online) of 1 hour duration, which will be used to shortlist candidates for the admission interviews.
The written exam is scheduled to start at 10:00 am on 7th May 2024 (Wednesday) . The interviews for the shortlisted candidates are scheduled on 13th May 2024 (Tuesday).

The exam will have two sections. All problems in the exam will be either multiple choice (with one or more correct answers) or fill-in-blanks with a numeric answer. There will be a marks penalty for incorrect answers (negative marking). A sample question paper is provided at the end of FAQ section
Section A: Maths, physics, chemistry (20 marks)
11th and 12th standard (high school) level
There will be 10 problems in this section
Sections B and C: Undergraduate level problems (20 marks)
The problems in this section will be from topics covered in the undergraduate curricula for the eligible disciplines like heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, electrical networks and machines, etc.

A: We would recommend that you use this page as your primary source of information about the admissions process.
2. How can I join the online interview and which software should I use/ install?
A: We will post more information about the interview process in the coming days.
3. What documents should I keep for the Online Written Exam and Interviews?
A: You should keep a Govt. issued Photo ID card for the online verification process. You should also keep plain paper and pens/pencil handy as these will be required for working on the written test problems as well as answering questions from the interview panel. Also, ensure that you choose a quiet place which has good internet connectivity and where you will not be disturbed.
4. My GATE Score card/qualifying degree certificate has not reached at my home address? What shall I submit?
A: You can submit the VALID GATE Score card printed from the internet/provisional certificate during the virtual interview. However, at the time of admission, you have to submit the original one.
5. What are the documents required for identification?
A: A government identity card showing the candidate’s name, date of birth, and a photo.
6. If proper identification is not available, what shall we do?
A: You will not be allowed to appear for the online exam and interview.
7. I have some other commitment on the date of written test. Is it possible to reschedule it to another date?
A: No, there is no way the written test can be rescheduled for any reason. It will be conducted only on the announced date.

The sample exam at the bottom of this page is from a previous round of admissions. Section A this year will be similar to section A in the sample exam. Section B will be similar to section B in the sample exam except all questions will be either multiple choice or fill-in-the-blanks and you will NOT be required to upload your work on how you obtained the solution.
