Abstract
IoT is enabling devices & equipment in buildings to communicate, generating large amounts of sensor data in the process. The talk emphasizes the need to apply principles of rationality in order to reduce the complexity of managing such buildings. Rational decisions are driven by criteria such as cost reduction, good return on investment, user comfort and statutory compliance. The talk concludes with some live-site data and case studies, which demonstrate aspects of complexity involved in decision making.
