Spot Admission to M.Tech. Programme 2025-26 under TA and RA category

The Teaching Assistantship (TA category) and Research Assistantship(TA category)

The Teaching Assistantship (TA category) candidates who have applied for admission in the M.Tech programme in the academic unit, Department of Energy Science and Engineering, and having GATE score as mentioned below who are eligible for appearing “On the Spot Admission” on 28 July 2025 against vacant seats.

#PwD reservations will be horizontal (i.e. PwD candidates will consume seats from their birth category quota).

* These vacancies are as on 22/07/2024 and may change due to cancellation/withdrawals/other changes, IF ANY.

* The updated vacancies, will be announced to the candidates who will report for Spot Admission at 10 AM on 28 July 2025.

Mode of ‘ On the Spot Admission’: On the spot admission will be held in hybrid mode (in person and online)

Eligibility Criteria for On the Spot Admissions:

The candidates eligibility for “on the Spot Admission” is as follows.

1. Candidates should have applied for M.Tech. Programme in “Energy Sciene & Engg. Dept.” at IIT Bombay for the academic year 2025-26.

1(a). Candidates from unreserved category (GN/EWS/OBC) from the waitlist uploaded HERE, and all SC/ST candidates who have applied for MTech admissions for the department and fulfill above mentioned GATE score eligibility criteria will be directly considered for the Spot admissions against the vacant seats. Candidates from the waitlist planning to attend the Spot admissions at the department are encouraged to register over this link by 26 July 2025.

1(b). Candidates from unreserved category (GN/EWS/OBC) who are not listed in the Waitlist but have applied for MTech Admissions at the department for the academic year 2025-26 and are fulfilling above mentioned GATE Score eligibility must register over this link by 26^th July 2025. Such candidates will be considered for on the Spot admissions after exhausting the candidates appearing for On the Spot admissions from the Waitlist mentioned above. The candidates will be required to appear in the written test/interview to be conducted the same day, 28^th July 2025 in hybrid mode. The merit list for those candidates who will qualify written test/interview will be prepared based on GATE Score.

2. Candidates should NOT have “accepted” ANY offer in COAP. However, candidates/students who have already confirmed the admission/ joined IIT Bombay may appear for ‘on the spot admission’ for “change of specialisation” within the department. Moreover, candidates who have accepted the offers at IIT Bombay are not eligible for inter-department movement/shift.

3. Applicants who have accepted admissions at IIT Bombay or applicants who have marked “Accept & Freeze” on the COAP portal to accept the offer made by other Institutes, are not eligible for “Spot Admission”.

4. The candidates should give an “Undertaking” that they have not accepted the offers on COAP in the format specified.

The procedure for appearing in the Spot Admissions to be followed is as follows:

1. For those choosing to appear in person, they should report at the office of the Department of Energy science and Engineering, 2^nd floor, Energy and Environment Building, near KV School, IIT Bombay, Powai-400076, on 28 July 2025 at 10 AM

2. To attend in person/physical mode : The candidates are required to be present in person and no representatives of the candidates will be permitted to participate in the admissions procedure. No accommodation and travel allowances are given for attending this spot admission.

3. To attend in online mode : The candidates are required to be present in online mode over the below mentioned meeting link at 9:30 AM, 28 July 2025, and no representatives of the candidates will be permitted to participate in the admissions procedure. The candidate must verify his/her identity through video call mode.
