Abstract

The line focusing concentrating solar thermal technologies such as linear Fresnel reflector and parabolic trough collector may be used for process heat and power generation applications. Numerical and experimental investigations of energy efficient receivers have been analyzed to improve the performance of line-focus concentrating solar thermal technologies. The analysis of collector field for power generation is carried out for both linear Fresnel reflector and parabolic trough power plant. The land area required for different plant operating hours and insolation conditions are analyzed. The annual power generation of solar power plants is estimated for various locations in India. Energy, exergy, environmental and economic analyses of stand-alone line focusing concentrated solar power plants is carried out for different plant capacities ranging from 1 MW to 50 MW.
