DESE Students win 1st Prize in International Switch Energy Case Competition 2022

A student team from the Department of Energy Science & Engineering has secured 1st prize and US$ 10,000 in the International Switch Energy Case Competition 2022

The competition was organized by Switch Energy Alliance, an Austin, Texas-based nonprofit organization, with support from Sempra and the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin (PGE).
 
During the competition, 141 teams from 15 countries participated and were tasked to develop a 30-year plan for improving energy access and reliability in countries like Colombia, Ghana, and Myanmar. Our team worked on energy poverty issues in Ghana and won the finale where the top 5 teams presented their projects to a live audience and a 3-member jury. 
 
The Team "Nimbus 2.0", had the following members:
