FACULTY OPENINGS

    The Energy Systems Engineering group at IIT Bombay is poised to grow into a Center for energy research catering to the training and research needs of the Indian energy sector and contributing to international research in Energy.
   We currently have a M.Tech & PhD programme with an inter-disciplinary focus.
   We are interested in recruiting new faculty in the following areas :

1. Nuclear reactor safety, Nuclear reactor controls
2. Electrical energy systems, Grid Interconnection of Renewables (Wind/PV), Power Electronics Applications to Renewables & Energy Efficiency.
3. Biomass energy systems, Gasification and Combustion
4. Wind, Solar Thermal, Micro-Hydel, Fuel Cells, Solar PV, Clean Coal Technologies.
5. Energy efficiency, energy integration, Energy Planning and Policy, Modelling of energy systems.

    Background

   1. Nuclear Safety - Familiarity with safety issues in nuclear power generation; Radiation protection; Analysis of off-normal transients of different reactor types; Understanding of various phenomena involved in different accident scenarios. Nuclear Reactor Control - Methods of analysis and solution of Reactor Dynamics Equations; Space-Time Kinetics solution techniques; Control Strategies during transient; Analysis of Instabilities in Boiling Water Reactors; Xenon Oscillations and methods to control them in Thermal Reactors.

   2-5. For other areas, the candidate should have competence in their basic area of engineering or science and must have relevant experience in the field of energy and a willingness to work in an inter-disciplinary environment.
