First Field Demonstration of V2G and V2H at IIT Bombay
Grid Integration Lab, IIT Bombay has undertaken two field pilot studies to demonstrate various Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) applications, with primary focus on Vehicle-to-Grid(V2G), Vehicle-to-Home(V2H) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle(V2V) applications. The first pilot is primarily focussed on V2G, V2H applications, while the second pilot is focussed on Renewable Energy based V2G and V2V demonstration in a public charging station. These two filed pilots are expected to demonstrate V2X technology and its capability along with finding challenges in implementation of V2G in Indian EV ecosystem. Charging and discharging using bidirectional V2G & V2H has been successfully demonstrated through the pilot.
Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) Field Demonstration: An update
Grid Integration Lab, IIT Bombay is glad to share a snippet from the ongoing V2G & V2H trial. Under this post, highlights of power and energy exchange between electric vehicle, PV powered smart home and grid for a sample day (9th April 2024) is highlighting the potential of V2G & V2H in India. Under this trial, electric vehicle is being used for peak shaving, increased PV utilization, net zero electricity exchange with the grid, islanded operation of home energized from the vehicle and vehicle to grid applications. The initial findings of the trials are quite encouraging.
Webinar on field demonstration of V2G/V2H and on the study ‘Implementation of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) in India’
Grid Integration Lab, IIT Bombay, in cooperation with Central Electricity Authority (Cea), Ministry of Power, organized a webinar to reflect on the status update on the field demonstration of V2G/V2H technologies and the study on ‘Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) in India’ on 28 May 2024 that was attended by key stakeholders in the field of electric mobility.
We express our gratitude to Shri Ashok Kumar Rajput (Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power), Prof. Shireesh Kedare (IIT Bombay), Mr. Bjoern Christensen (Next-Dimension), Dr SANDEEP GARG (SIAM) and Mr. Ramkrishna Singh (Tata Power) for attending the event as our esteemed guests and Prof. Zakir H. Rather (Grid Integration Lab, IIT Bombay) for moderating the panel discussion. The speakers provided valuable perspectives on existing challenges and offered vital recommendations for advancing V2G initiatives in India.
