Scientist/Post Doc-1&2: Two positions:

Role: The candidates are expected to work on distributed decentralized storage at distribution system level for sustainable and reliable uptake of renewable energy. The overall work will include modelling of distribution network, storage technologies, control and operation of distributed storage including behind the meter storage (stationary and mobile), coordinated operation with other DERs, with the broader objective of achieving increased RE penetration in power system. Moreover, the candidates will be required to work on a field demonstration with a distribution system utility in India.

Duration: 5 years (subjected to satisfactory periodic performance assessment).

Desired Experience: The candidates should be from electrical power/energy background with experience in modelling of electrical network, BESS, IBRs. The candidate should have worked on renewable energy integration with good understanding of distribution system control and operation. Experience of working on modelling tools, such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSSE, ETAP, PSCAD, OpenDSS, CYME etc.

Scientist/Post Doc-3&4: Two positions:

Role: The candidates are expected to work on a pilot deployment of Solar PV based smart EV charging station to demonstrate various smart charging applications and distribution system management. The candidate will also have an opportunity to work on ongoing Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) field pilots.

Duration: 2 Years (subjected to satisfactory periodic performance assessment).

Desired Experience: The candidate should be from electrical power/energy background with hands on experience on hardware in lab or field deployment of EV charging station/power electronic devices/RE system/microcontroller/equivalent experience.

Scientist/Post Doc-5&6: Two positions:

Role: The candidates are required to work on IBR dominated power systems including grid stability, operation of power system under high penetration of renewables, grid code regulations, utility scale RE power plant (Solar and wind power plant) operation and control, system inertia, and related topics.

Duration: 2 Years (subjected to satisfactory periodic performance assessment).

Desired Experience: : The candidates should be from electrical power background with a good experience of power system modelling including IBR based power plant modelling, experience of modelling tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory/PSSE/PSCAD/ETAP, and Power & Control hardware in loop (P/CHIL), Real Time Digital Simulators (Opal-RT, RTDS/Typhoon HIL).

Scientist/Post Doc-7: One position:

Role: The candidate is required to work on development and field deployment of smart charging solution for Electric Bus Depots in Delhi and Mumbai. The smart charging solutions to be developed will focus on various functionalities including scheduling of E-bus charging, route scheduling of Bus Depot, coordinated charging of E-buses with co-located solar PV system, optimizing contracted demand/load by the charging station, reactive power management and other demand response/flexibility provisions. The smart charging solution will be deployed in functional E-bus depots located in Delhi and Mumbai city.

Duration: 1.5 Year.

Desired Experience: : The candidate is expected to be from electrical power/energy background, with a good experience in EV charging, smart charging, hardware implementation, embedded software, coding platform and related areas.

Scientist/Post Doc-8: One position:

Role: The candidate is expected to work on optimal integration of different energy vectors (electricity, transportation, water, heat) in a multi-energy carrier carbon neutral energy system. This work is focused on field demonstrations of local energy systems being developed at a field demonstration site situated in Jharkhand India. The selected candidate will be primarily situated at IIT Bombay campus with some regular visits to the demonstration sites as and when required.

Duration: 1 Year (with a possible extension by 1 year).

Desired Experience: : The candidate is expected to be from electrical power/energy background, preferably with some experience in working with multicarrier energy system, optimization, and related topics.

Project Manager Position: One position:

Role: The candidate is expected to coordinate various project activities, including but not limited to preparing project progress reports, coordinating project meetings and workshops, coordinating procurement/purchase, monitoring accounts related documents, coordinating with project research staff, monitoring technical progress/milestones of the various project activities and other project related managerial work.

Duration: 6 years (subjected to satisfactory periodic performance assessment)

Desired Experience: : The candidate is expected to have R&D project/equivalent experience in different capacities with some experience managing/coordinating a group of project staff, project reporting, procurement, and related exposure.

Research Fellow Positions (RFP): Four positions:

Role: One candidate is expected to work on renewable energy integration at distribution and transmission level including distribution system operation under high penetration of rooftop PVs with a provision of demand response and behind the meter asset optimization.

The second candidate is required to work on grid integration of EV charging infrastructure and V2G study. The candidate is also expected to work on V2G and V2H topics.

Third candidate is expected to work on repowering of wind power plants. This work includes technical, regulatory and policy aspects of repowering of wind power plants.

Fourth candidate is expected to work on developing business models for multicarrier energy based local carbon neutral systems, suitable for developing countries, particularly rural applications.

Duration: RPF-1 & 2 is for 3 years, while RFP-3 & 4 are for 1 year each.

Desired Experience: : For RFP-1 & 2, the candidates should be from electrical power/energy background with experience of modelling, modelling tools (PowerFactory/PSSE/PSCAD/MATLAB SIMULINK/equivalent), python, GAMS, hardware hands on experience (lab or field experience), microcontroller, HIL, and related experience.

For RFP-3, the candidate should be from energy background with experience on renewable energy integration, planning of power sector and related areas.

For RFP-4, the candidate should be with experience on planning of renewables, business models, and related areas..

Special note for Research fellow positions: : The candidates selected under Research fellow category will have an opportunity to register as PhD student at IIT Bombay and continue working on the same topic (after following due admission process of IIT Bombay).
