Energy Research for Global Sustainability

Global Alliance of Technological Universities (GlobalTech) is a consortium of seven premier technological universities that includes IIT Bombay, California Institute of Technology, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH Zurich), Imperial College London, Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Alliance aims to address global societal issues to which science and technology could be their solution. These issues include biomedicine and health care, sustainability and global environmental change, security of energy, water and food supplies, security, and changing demographics/ population. Each year since its inception, the members of the founding institutions come together to discuss and promote advances in various research fields. As a partner institute in the GlobalTech Alliance consortium, IIT Bombay will be hosting the 3rd GlobalTech Workshop. The focus this year is on "Energy Research for Global Sustainability" and will be held on 7th and 8th December 2011. Top researchers and members of these eminent institutes will be present and would be giving talks on energy related themes like Low carbon cities, Distributed Energy Systems/Smart Grids, Cost effective energy storage solution, Energy policy and impact on society, Innovation and R&D in energy, etc . The workshop will be held for one and half days and registrations are open for students. Lunches and dinner would be provided to the participants for the one and a half days duration and registrations are free.

Students are also invited to participate in the poster presentation where there’ll be an avenue to showcase our original work in various disciplines pertaining to the theme and interact with the experts. Around 50 students will get an opportunity to participate in the workshops
