Mr. V.P. Raja will be inaugurating the event and also will be present throughout the day. Shri V.P. Raja is an M. Phil in Social Science and a double post-graduate in Physics from Delhi University and Columbia University (U.S.A). He has a post-graduate degree in Rural Development Planning from the University of East Anglia (U.K.).
As an IAS officer of the Maharahstra cadre, he has worked in various assignments at the District, State and Centre. At the State level, besides holding positions in Finance and Urban Development, he has served as Secretary in the Departments of Trade & Commerce, Housing & Special Assistance, Higher & Technical Education and Water Supply and Sanitation. While on deputation to the Government of India, he has held responsible posts in the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Planning Commission and the Ministry of Defence.
He has authored several books and publications on Zero Base Budgeting, State Finances and Economic Reforms. He has made important contributions to administrative reforms in Maharashtra while working as Collector of Satara and as Transport Commissioner. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Public Administration, Shri Raja was awarded the P.J. Chinmulgund Distinguished Government Administration Award.

Dr. Kirit S.Parikh,
Member of Planning Commission(Energy)

Dr. Kirit S. Parikh is Emeritus Professor (on retirement as Director) and Founder Director of Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, India. He has also served as Senior Economic Advisor to United Nations Development Programme
from October 1997 to September 1998. He has been a member of the
Economic Advisory Council (EAC) of the Prime Minister of India, Atal
Bihari Vajpayee, and had been a member of EAC of Prime Ministers Rajiv
Gandhi, V.P.Singh, Chandra Shekhar and P.V. Narasimha Rao.
He is also
a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India. He has been the
editor of "India Development Reports" which provide a non-governmental
assessment of India's development and policy options. Apart from these,
he has been a member of numerous other boards. He has also authored and
co-authored more than 15 books in the areas of planning, water resource
management, appropriate technology for housing, optimum requirement for
fertilizers, energy systems, national and international food policies,
trade policies, general equilibrium modeling and natural resources
accounting. He has also published numerous articles.
Mr. Dunu Roy,
Director of Hazards Centre(NGO)

Anubrotto
Kumar Roy popularly known as Dunu Roy obtained a B.Tech in the year
1967 and an M.Tech. in the year 1969 from the Department of Chemical
Engineering, IIT Bombay. He is also the recipient of the Distinguished
Alumnus Award from IIT Bombay in the year 2000.Dunu Roy devoted over
four decades in the field of rural development.
The
“Hazard Centre”core team comprises ten dedicated researchers and as
many as 50 professionals, some of them well-known in their fields. They
provide free service to the victims and needy and hail from such
diverse disciplines as public health, environment impact, pollution
control and urban architecture. According to a study made by the Hazard
Centre, there are about three lakh families in Delhi who have no place
to live. The Centre strives hard to provide them shelter. Hazard Centre
has given the plan and the design to the Metropolitan Council of Delhi
(MCD) suggesting separate path for cyclists and pedestrians together
with other changes.
Dunu Roy
gave up his career as chemical engineer as temperamentally he could not
be tied down to long office hours and the challenges outside beckoned
him. Initially he had done lot of work in tribal areas of Madhya
Pradesh covering such areas as environmental planning and imparting
education at mass level.President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam speaking at
the valedictory session of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas–2005 in Mumbai
praised the work being done by Dunu Roy.The Satyendra K Dubey Memorial
award is conferred upon Mr Dunu Roy for outstanding work in rural
development and spreading environmental awareness.
