Wind Energy Technology

WIND ENERGY TECHNOLOGY

Wind Energy has proven to be economically viable renewable energy source today for generating electrical power. Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) of generation capacity of about 60,000 MW are installed World over. Till date, India has installed over 7,200 MW of wind power and ranks fourth in the world. India has started manufacturing and exporting Wind Machines in 1 to 2 MW range. Indigenous designs for 1 to 10 kW range are also available.

Increasingly, a need is felt for skilled technical manpower to understand, design and operate wind machines. With this requirement in mind, a training course on Wind Energy Technology is planned on April 15-18, 2008 at IIT-Bombay

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is designed for practising engineers in wind industry, teachers, students, policy makers and scientists who are interested in or are exposed to Wind Energy Technology. The course will provide an introduction to the skills and techniques required for analysis of Wind Machines and will expose the participants to the methods of selection, siting and operation of Wind Machines.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This course is meant for engineers and scientists from industry, government agencies, academic institutions, students as well as entrepreneurs who are interested in Wind Energy Conversion Technologies.

PROGRAMME VENUE

The programme will be held at the Conference Hall, Institute Guest House, and IIT Bombay. IIT Bombay is a township in Mumbai that has retained its green cover and is rich in natural flora and fauna. The campus extends over 220 hectares amidst picturesque surroundings with Vihar and Powai lakes on either side.

ABOUT IIT BOMBAY & DESE
