Advances in Energy Research

4th & 5th, December, 2006. IIT-Bombay

Welcome to AER - 2006

The growth of the energy sector is critical for India's development. The provision of affordable energy services to the population in a sustainable fashion throws up several technological and research challenges. The development and adoption of energy efficient technologies and systems and cost effective renewables needs an increased emphasis on research and development. IIT Bombay announces a national conference on Advances in Energy Research to provide a platform for researchers, academics and industry to discuss recent research results and identify future directions for R & D in the energy sector. This conference is being organised at IIT Bombay during December 4-5, 2006. Download  brochure from here.

Venue

The conference will be held at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in Mumbai. IIT Bombay is one of the premier technological institutes in India with students and faculty who are comparable with the best in the world. The institute has a vibrant research culture and has several linkages with Indian and international industries and institutes.

Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) is an inter-disciplinary programme with a mission to develop sustainable energy systems and solutions for the future. ESE currently has about 30 M.Tech's and Ph.D graduating annually. The ESE is celebrating its silver jubilee and is expanding into a School with new academic programmes and an increased research thrust.

Conference Topics

  • Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology for Energy Applications CNT, Low cost PV, batteries, materials for energy storage, etc.
  • Novel Energy Conversion Devices Microbial Fuel Cells, Dye Sensitized PV, etc.
  • Advanced energy efficient devices and systems cogeneration, Trigeneration, Process Integration, green building, etc.
  • Modeling and Simulation of Energy Systems
  • Controls for Energy Conservation and Renewables
  • Power Electronics for Energy Applications
  • Analysis of energy systems energy economics, environmental impacts, climate change issues, etc.

The conference will consist of plenary sessions, parallel technical programme consisting of oral and poster presentations.

There will be special sessions on

a)  Fuel Cells and Hydrogen

b)  Industrial applications of renewables and energy efficiency,

c)  Energy education.

The proceedings will be published in the form of book including a CD-ROM.

Exhibition at AER-06

Over 300 delegates are going to participate in AER - 2006. Leading scientists and administrators from various organizations such as CSIR, DST, TERI, NTPC, IISc, IITs etc. are part of the technical and advisory committee and are expected to take part in the conference.

Special session on ‘Industrial applications of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’ will be conducted as a part of AER-2006. We have received about 40 papers on this topic from various industries including NTPC, Suzlon, SAIL, NPCIL, ACC etc. In the concluding session of AER-06, we are planning a panel discussion to focus on India’s R&D strategy on energy with Prof. Kirit Parikh (member Planning Commission), Secretary DST, Secretary MNES and leading industrialists.

As a part of the conference, there will be a showcase exhibition to provide a platform to various industries and entrepreneurs for advertising their services and products related to energy sector. Apart from the delegates, the exhibition will also be open to public for a limited period of time.

Click here for the invitation to exhibit in showcase exhibition, AER-2006. Get the details about space for stall, facilities and charges with terms and conditions including registration form for the exhibitors in doc format or in pdf format.
